What backlink indexer software is
Published
Backlink indexer software is any tool that takes a list of URLs, usually backlinks on sites the user does not control, and tries to get Googlebot to crawl them, then reports which ones Google indexed. It ships as web apps, REST APIs, CMS plugins and chat bots, and is usually priced per URL in credits.
Definition
Backlink indexer software is a class of SEO tool built around one job: getting a list of URLs noticed by Googlebot and finding out whether Google then added them to its index. The URLs are typically backlinks: guest posts, citations, profile pages and press pickups that sit on websites the buyer does not own. Because the buyer cannot verify those sites in Search Console, they cannot request indexing there, and a page that Google never crawls passes nothing.
Google describes search as three stages: crawling, indexing and serving. Indexer software operates on the first stage and measures the second. It cannot force the second stage, because Google decides on its own which crawled pages are worth keeping. A tool that implies otherwise is misdescribing the category.
Delivery forms
The same service is often sold through several front ends:
| Form | How it is used | Typical user |
|---|---|---|
| Web app | Paste URLs or upload a file, watch jobs in a dashboard | Link builders, agencies |
| REST API | Create jobs and read results from code | Developers, SaaS tools, in-house SEO teams |
| CMS plugin | Submit posts automatically on publish | Site owners on WordPress |
| Browser extension | Send the current page or a selection of links | Outreach staff |
| Chat bot | Send URLs in a Telegram chat | Users who prefer messaging tools |
Vendors mix these differently. According to its homepage as checked on 2026-10-08, Rapid URL Indexer offers a web dashboard, REST API, WordPress plugin and Zapier connection, while SpeedyIndex lists a web app, Telegram bot and API. Indexceptional describes its API as still under development, so its tool is used through the dashboard only. The guide to indexing APIs covers what a programmatic interface usually exposes.
Components
Most products in the category combine four functions. Not every vendor offers all four, and that gap is often the deciding factor.
Submission
Submission is the core. The user sends URLs and the tool tries to bring them to Googlebot's attention. Options at this stage usually include a standard mode, a faster premium mode at a higher credit cost, and a drip feed that spreads a batch over days so a large set of links does not appear all at once. Job size limits vary from a few hundred to tens of thousands of URLs.
Checking
An index checker reports whether each URL is in Google's index. Built-in checking matters because it is the only way to know whether the submission did anything. Some tools check automatically after a fixed delay; others leave the user to buy a separate checker. A good checker separates "not indexed" from "could not be checked", since treating a failed lookup as a negative result inflates the miss rate.
Monitoring
Monitoring re-checks known backlinks on a schedule to confirm that the link still exists, still points where it should, and sits on a page Google can crawl and index. It is less common in indexer products and more common in general SEO suites.
Reporting
Reporting turns job results into something a client or manager can read: counts of indexed and unindexed URLs, CSV exports, and per-job history. For agencies, the export format often matters more than the dashboard.
Pricing models
Almost every tool bills in credits or tokens that map to URLs. The differences are in when a credit is spent and whether it comes back.
- Pay per submission. One credit per URL submitted, no refund if the URL is not indexed. Indexceptional states that it does not offer refunds.
- Pay per result. Credits are reserved on submission and returned for URLs that are not indexed after a waiting period. SpeedyIndex refunds tokens for unindexed links after its 7-day report; Rapid URL Indexer refunds standard-mode credits for links not indexed after 14 days.
- Subscription quotas. A monthly plan grants a fixed number of links per day or month. Links Indexer sells plans with daily and monthly link quotas.
- Hybrid. Monthly plans that top up a credit balance, with one-time packs alongside them.
A per-URL price only means something next to the refund model. A cheap pay-per-submission tool and a costlier pay-per-result tool can end up close in cost per indexed URL, depending on the site quality of the links submitted. The guide to choosing a tool works through that comparison.
What the software cannot do
No tool can make a thin, duplicated or blocked page indexable. A page disallowed in robots.txt cannot be crawled, a page with a noindex rule is dropped once Google sees the rule, and a page Google judges low value can sit in "Crawled, currently not indexed" no matter how often it is crawled. Google's Indexing API is also outside the category's legitimate toolset for ordinary pages, because Google limits it to job-posting and livestream content.
Where IndexChex fits
This handbook is published by IndexChex, a tool that combines submission and checking in one credit balance and is available as a web app and an API. The IndexChex software entry lists its modes, limits and credit costs. Other tools in the category are described on this site with the sources and dates of each fact.
FAQ
Is backlink indexer software the same as Google Search Console?
No. Search Console only works for sites you have verified. Backlink indexer software is built for URLs on other people's sites, where the link owner has no access to the publisher's Search Console property.
Can any indexer software guarantee that Google indexes a URL?
No. Software can encourage Googlebot to crawl a page, but Google decides whether a crawled page is indexed. Vendors differ in what they promise instead, typically crawling, or a refund when a URL stays out of the index.
Do I need an API to use backlink indexer software?
No. Most tools are used through a web dashboard where you paste URLs or upload a file. An API matters when submissions are triggered by other systems, such as a publishing workflow or a link-building tracker.
Why do some tools charge only for indexed URLs?
It is a pricing choice. Pay-per-result tools refund credits for URLs that are not indexed after a set window, which moves the risk to the vendor but usually means a higher price per URL and a wait before the refund is settled.
